How to review Writing Course at home!!!!

Dear students,

From my perspective, "REVIEW is the mother of mastering." After an outstanding lecture delivered by your teacher, it's your loss not to pick up the quintessence in the whole content. Therefore, you need to put more efforts in your REVIEW after class. The procedure of reviewing writing course is as follows.

1. Hand-write, copy, the whole example essay demonstrated in class for at least 3 times on one specific notebook.
Due to everyone's poor memory for new words and phrases, it's necessary for you to write verbatim as many times as you can, for the purpose of boosting your vocabulary bank in terms of English writing. Once you are able to fluently apply these words and phrases you've learned in class, it's more likely that you can finish your essay in time on the test day.

2. After copying the essay, you need to select the rather useful words and phrases, as well as sentence structures, and write them down in another notebook, which will in turn become your own writing reference book when you start to write.
Remember one thing: when you write, it's absolutely not necessary for you to take out your materials (in class), trying to grab anything from them or looking for anything relevant to the given topic at hand. In other words, when you write (a new topic), you have nothing but yourself and your notebook with a wide variety of words, phrases, structures, and transitions ready to use. By the way, in this notebook, there should be 4 parts: words, phrases, structures, and transitions, respectively. Trust me, after forming this habit of taking notes, you will get better and better in your writing.

3. If there are other example essays in my material, repeat step 2 for a few times.
Make sure that you have grasped the ideas on the given topic from other writers and some useful expressions as well. Namely, you have to, firstly, write useful words, phrases, structures, and transitions in your notebook; secondly, analyze the main ideas and details provided in example essays. What's better, you can list them in your notebook as the following form.

4. Above all, having done the above-mentioned reviewing procedure, you can start to write your own essay on the same topic as the example essay.
The purpose of writing on the same topic as the example essay is to make sure that you have learned how to write on this topic by yourselves. If you still cannot write a whole essay on your own, that means your review on this example essay is insufficient, and it's highly recommended that you review it again. One thing should be followed as a rule----after reviewing, you have to wait for about 3 to 5 days, then you write on this topic. This practice ensures that you do assimilate what you have learned from your review.

After repeating this procedure for a number of cycles, you will get the knack of writing English essay. "Practice makes perfect." Bear this in mind as your motto. To master English writing, there are no short cuts--------only WRITE, WRITE, WRITE.
