Those preferring small towns and rural areas say that although modern cities provide us with many chances and amenities unavailable in rural areas, they take a heavy toll from us. Pollutions, traffic jams, and crimes, for example, are the dear prices city residents pay for the conveniences they enjoy. In contrast (on the contrary), rural areas and small towns offer us trees and grass, quiet streets, and clean air. It is a life with neighbors whom one knows and with whom one shares similar values. In addition, an atmosphere of friendliness and cooperation makes life in the country more pleasant than life in such modern city as New York.

The benefits the plant will bring to the neighborhood is clear: job opportunities and an improved infrastructure. Nowadays, a great number of businesses are laying off their employees, including those competent workers. Under such circumstance, the number of jobs provided by a new plant means a lot. Even though job openings for local residents may be limited, the plant still makes a positive contribution to the overall economic development on which the prosperity of our neighborhood hinges. Moreover, the installation of the plant will be accompanied with the construction of new roads, sewers, and lighting. People always complain about the shortage of funds provided by the local government to improve the infrastructure. Now that we have a corporation to pay for our neighborhood’s infrastructure, how can we let slip the opportunity? Considering the aforementioned benefits, I support the plan of establishing a chemical plant in our neighborhood.
